Rules and Assignments

Fri Aug 31, 2007, 6:32 PM
  • Mood: Artistic
Welcome to the CreativeSol Art Club! Before you join, there are some rules you need to know about. If there's anything that you don't understand, or don't see listed below, please contact the club either with a personal note through DA or by emailing CreativeSol.Club@gmail.com.

The rules are very long, we apologize, but they're pretty straightforward. Even if you skim through the rules (although we hope you take the time to read them through ;) ), make sure you read through the assignment section carefully.

RULES

  • HAVE FUN! Even if it seems like the end of the world, don't worry too much. Deviantart is supposed to be a safe and fun place, and that's what we want CreativeSol to be as well.

  • Be respectful of others and their art. That means no harassing, put downs, or rude behavior of any kind. If you feel like someone is being disrespectful to you, don't retaliate. If they're being rude, let a moderator know and we'll take care of it.

  • Get involved as often as possible! Not many things are mandatory at CreativeSol, but we want you to be an active part of the club, and we want you to WANT to be involved.

  • Give us input! We want to hear from you! HONEST! CreativeSol was started by just two people (SerenaFae and Azrayne), but we want it to be a group effort. If there is anything you think could be improved, please let us know! We may not agree with everything that is suggested, but we want this to be everyone's club.

  • Traditional art, digital art, and photography are all accepted here. There will be assignments each month for each category, and the assignments will all be related in some way. When responding to each other's submissions, try to branch out from your specific category and critique work from a different category. Expand your artistic knowledge!

  • Mature content IS allowed, so long as you give fair warning (either in the title or with a mature content warning picture). If you are easily offended, or just don't want to see anything with possible nudity, sexuality, violence, or gore, please pay close attention to what you are clicking. If you view a picture that has been submitted as an assignment that is mature, but doesn't give proper warning, let a moderator know, and we'll take care of it.

  • Fanart is also allowed, but we will try to encourage you to be original as well. If you're having artist's block, and can't think of anything but fanart to do, maybe you could tweak the characters in some way. If you're doing fanart for specific characters, try changing their designs, or giving them new costumes. Try not to be tied down by the character's original design. But of course make sure you give credit to the original owners of your chosen characters.

  • Don't be afraid to talk to one another or to your moderators. Let us know how you feel; let each other know how you feel. Get to know one another, get to know us! Never be ashamed of who you are, and never make anyone feel ashamed for who they are.

ASSIGNMENTS

  • Members are asked to submit at least one assignment every six months. This is to keep members active in the club and activities. Remember, the point of CreativeSol is to improve your art and make friends! How can you do that if you're not at least a little involved?

  • Submitted assignments should be finished pieces of art. Although we will not reject simple pieces or plain line art, we suggest that you attempt to fill up the composition and make the piece balanced. Push yourself to fill the page or canvas, and work into your art until you're satisfied that it is as good as it's going to get.

  • Assignments will be posted in the first week, every month. Members will have the first three weeks of every month to complete and turn in the assignments. At the beginning of the fourth week, members will have the chance to vote on one piece for each medium (traditional, digital, photography). Choices should be made based on not only the skill used in the piece, but on creativity, originality, and quality. Votes will be tallied up by the moderators, and the winners will be announced when the next assignment is posted. As of now, there are will be no prizes for winning pieces, but we hope to incorporate a points system in the future, and members will be allowed to swap points for art trades.

  • Members are asked (but not required) to comment on at least one art piece by another member (whether it's a club assignment or not), and offer a helpful critique and praise on the piece. That person, in turn, should try to offer advice on the first artist's work. Don't overwhelm yourself trying to offer critiques and praise, or trying to respond to it. We merely want you to be involved in each others work and get the attention needed to improve your art.

  • Whichever member wins the monthly assignment will be given the choice to create the next months' assignment. This is not mandatory, of course, but we hope that this will inspire participation.

  • Occasionally we will hold special contests that will be posted in addition to the monthly assignments. For these contests, both members and moderators will have a say in the winning pieces. The prizes for contests will be decided at the time that they are posted.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to read through these rules (even though they were long). If there is anything that you don't understand, or that you think we left out, please send a note to the club or email us at the club's gmail account.

We hope you join up and enjoy!
Peace <3
